VSC & the Harpoon Point to Point
The 7th annual Harpoon Point to Point was held on August 16th, and this year two riders from CCV joined up with a group from Johnson and a rider from Lyndon to create a pedaling superpower. At last count, Team VSC has raised over $1300 to support the efforts of the Vermont Foodbank.
The day began with sunshine, temperatures in the 60’s -70’s, and only a 30% chance of scattered showers. Riders hit their saddles anticipating a beautiful ride for a good cause. There were a few surprises along the way, but the torrential rain, hail storms, thunder and lightning could not deter these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rides. Rides were 114, 50, and 25 miles long. Darlene Murphy and Angie Albeck from CCV each completed the 50 mile leg.

Update on CCV's Move to Winooski
The following is a guest posting from CCV's President Tim Donovan regarding CCV Burlington's upcoming move to downtown Winooski in 2010 as well as the construction project supporting that move.
Good morning. We’ve reached a few milestones with the building project in Winooski so I’d like to bring you up to date.
1. Our Act 250 Permit has been issued. We anticipate we will commence construction around the first of September. The first phase will be driving the piles that will support the building.
2. As of August 1, we have taken possession of the 1.8 acre leased parcel. All existing structures have been removed and the parcel is ready for construction. This has gone very smoothly with excellent collaboration among the land owner, City of Winooski, and CCV staff and design team.
3. Building design is on schedule and you will find a sketch of the building below. As construction costs become firmer in this volatile market, we may have to make some adjustments.
4. With a start of construction now firm, we can schedule a ceremonial groundbreaking. To accommodate the very busy demands of fall registration and the first week of the semester, we will hold the groundbreaking on Tuesday, September 9 at 9:30 am.
Thank you to all who have contributed to getting this project this far. All with an eye toward starting our Summer 2010 semester at 1 Abenaki Way in Winooski.
