Prepare a cultural dish to share at the 8th International Food Festival, Wednesday, April 16th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the Overlook Cafe on the 2nd floor of the CCV Burlington Pearl Street building. Consider your own cultural or ethnic heritage or one you know little about. Then research the foods of the region and prepare something you've always loved eating or something you've never tasted before.

Krempita is a Bosnian cake prepared with brasna (flour) secer (sugar) jaja (eggs) and vanilla pudding
Jambalaya is a thick hardy stew often prepared by the Cajun and Creole people whose cuisine is influenced by West Indian, African, Native American, French and Spanish cultures.
Kimchi rice is a popular Korean dish of rice flavored with pickled cabbage and spicy red pepper
Pakoras are a common Indian food of seasoned mixed vegetables dipped in homemade garbanzo batter sauce and deep fried
Pupusas are corn tortillas filled with beans and cheese, a staple in El Salvador

Nominate an Excellent Teacher

This June CCV is holding its first Summer Institute for faculty. The Institute will be a time to celebrate teaching excellence and to provide new learning opportunities for faculty members.During the Institute, 10 faculty members will be honored for their work in CCV classrooms. These are people whose teaching best supports learning. They will be chosen by the faculty members who currently serve on the College's Academic Council.

CCV Burlington welcomes new work-study employees!

CCV Burlington recently hired two new work study students named Ben and Mary and we would like to officially recognize their joining the staff. Below is a short bio for both of these great student leaders. Welcome to the staff Ben and Mary!




Ben Rutter is currently enjoying his second semester studying at CCV and his first working in the administrative offices. He loves living in the city of Burlington, having moved here from his home state of Virginia. He is looking forward to his remaining time at CCV, as well as the further education that he will receive after obtaining his associate degree. At present, he is a Liberal Studies major at CCV and he hopes to achieve a B.A. in history in the not-too-distant future.









Mary Brothers is 25 year old student attending CCV. Her long-term goal is to achieve her PHD in Criminal Psychology. She is also currently a part of the CCV work-study program here in Burlington. She says that “This job has provided me with wonderful opportunities. The site I work at has a great atmosphere with a sense of comfort and acceptance, not to mention the rest of the staff is both friendly and helpful.” In her time off, she enjoys reading, listening to music, watching movies and spending time with family and friends.

Movie Night @ CCV

Come join the Student Advisory Board (SAB) for a viewing of Sophie Scholl, a film following the last six days of Scholl’s life and her involvement with the White Rose, a student resistance group against the Nazi regime. Film will be followed with a brief discussion. Refreshments will be provided!

When: Wednesday, March 19^th from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Sustainability goals for new CCV location in Winooski

Cx Associates is working with CCV in offering sustainability consulting services and helping the college reach sustainability goals for the new facility planned for Winooskis. One such goal is to earn a silver rating under the LEED Certification Process. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is overseen by the U.S. Green Building Council.

On February 27, representatives from Cx Associates, met with several CCV Burlington students, staff, and faculty to discuss and brainstorm goals for CCV as it plans the new site (opening in 2010). The primary focus of this meeting was the theme of sustainability.

Karen Geiger featured at Kasini Gallery

Congratulations today go out to Karen Geiger, CCV graduate, CCV staff member, and local artist, who is currently being featured at the Kasini House Gallery (located at 64 North Street in Burlington)!

"Karen lives and works in Burlington, Vermont, and has shown at a number of venues and festivals since 2002. Geiger is also an active curator. This dual role, artist and curator, gives her a broad perspective on the practice of contemporary art and its roots in art history. Trained at the University of Vermont in studio art and art history, Geiger works in multiple media: acrylic painting, photography, installation, sculpture, and drawing.
