Free Theatre Symposium at UVM!


The University of Vermont Department of Theatre brings Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel to campus to participate in the September 29th Symposium, Women in Theatre: Transcending Barriers. Ms. Vogel will participate in the panel discussion beginning at 1:00pm and give the Key Note speech at 4:00pm. The symposium coincides with the Theatre Department's production of Ms. Vogel's play, How I Learned to Drive, which will be performed from September 27th – October 7th.

Ms. Vogel currently teaches at the Yale School of Drama after working for 24 years as the director of playwriting programs at Brown University. During her time there, she was a mentor to many playwrights who went on to national and international acclaim, including Sarah Ruhl, Nilo Cruz, Adam Bock, and Lynn Nottage. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize in Drama for her play, How I Learned To Drive (1998), she is the recipient of an Obie Award (1992) and The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize (1998).
