Three CCV students from Burlington’s spring ‘09 Social Problems (SOC-1030) class are organizing the upcoming “Pantry Party” fundraiser for a food pantry n the lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. The students helped rebuild the pantry in May as a part of the class’s service learning trip to Louisiana. All proceeds from the event will go toward bringing the food pantry up to code so the residents of this community can get the help they need.
The event is taking place on Saturday, July 25 at 7:00 PM at Designhaus (22 Church St., Burlington, 2nd Floor). It will feature seven musical acts including the Bob Wagner Band, Toothache, June Debris, Parmaga, Lady Lioness, Fever Breakers and Thanks Dude! There will also be raffles of local goods and services such as yoga classes, a meal at Penny Cluse and art!
Suggested entrance donation is $6. We hope to see you there! For more information, contact Ginevra Shay, CCV class of 2009, at ginevrashay@gmail.com.
This is a really great and thoughtful activity to do as well as a wonderful community event. Thank you for putting it together - I can't wait to go!
